Oh, Sweet Palatine!

By Kevin Robinson in News on May 28, 2008 10:00PM

Remember all that drama last month when Todd Stroger was supposed to meet with county residents in Palatine, and then backed out at the last minute when it looked like village pols had set him up to be publicly ambushed by angry voters? Well, it seems like Stroger and Palatininans are talking about getting together again.

According to the Daily Herald, the Palatine Chamber of Commerce will facilitate a meeting with Stroger and residents sometime in June. Unfortunately, that seems to be all the two sides can agree on. Stroger spokesman Eugene Mullins said that he will submit three dates to Cook County Commissioner Gregg Goslin, who will pass those dates on to the chamber to select from. But Goslin says he was supposed to get those dates over the weekend. Goslin also said he thought the meeting was supposed to be open to the public, but Mullins says the meeting will be closed, attended only by Stroger, the chamber of commerce and local business leaders invited by the chamber. "I'm not sure that [Mullins] is in the loop," said Goslin. [Ed note: I can't decide if I want this headline to be sung like "Sweet Caroline" or "Sweet Child O' Mine." Call it in the air, I guess.]
