2009_09_baconfest.jpg Baconfest Chicago may have been postponed until April, but the VIP bacon cookoff at the Publican slated for October 24 is still a lock. In fact, tickets went on sale at noon.

So far, Baconfest's Zeth Zurer has enlisted 10 chefs to compete for the "Golden Rasher' for Best Use of Bacon by a Culinary Professional. The 10 chefs include Eve's Troy Graves, Rick Gresh of David Burke's Primehouse, the Bristol's Chris Pandel, Jason Paskewitz of Gemini Bistro, Vie sous chef Nathan Sears, Gilbert Langlois of Chalkboard, Goose Island Clybourn's John Manion, one sixtyblue's Michael McDonald, Patrick Sheerin of the Signature Room and Giuseppe Tentori of BOKA. Each of them will make some home made bacon, which will be paired with a different beer from the Publican's extensive list.

The cost to attend is $75 (a portion of which is being donated to charity), which will get you a tasting portion sample of each bacon dish from each chef and beer from each chef and a gift bag courtesy of Yelp!, which should be sure to send the favorable reviews of the cookoff on that website skyrocketing. Interested parties can buy tickets here.
