We had pretty surprised by the response to last week's coffeehouse post that we thought we'd try to catch lightning in a bottle again. Today is National Pie Day and we asked the Chicagoist staff, "What is your favorite pie?"

Here are their responses.

Aaron Cynic: "French silk or oreo cookie pie, if you can call that pie. Really it's just
chocolatey goo smeared on a pie crust, but it's delicious."
Benjy: "I love apple pie! My favorite are these, from Wisconsin."
Veronica: "I'm not a fan of super sweet sweets, so key lime pie is my go to dessert choice. Just writing it's name right now made me crave it."
Laura Browning: "Sweet potato chiffon pie with a graham cracker crust, topped with a dollop of homemade whipped cream. My mom makes it every Thanksgiving and Christmas."
Tankboy: "It's cheezmo, but I love french silk pie from Baker's Square. It reminds me of first dates and the early stages oh high school crushes."
Carrie: "Brown bag apple pie and please make it ala mode."
Prescott: "I don't often eat dessert (I save my empty calories for alcohol) but close sources tell me the chocolate pecan (pronounced 'puh-CAHN') pie at Heaven on Seven is the shit. True?" (Ed. Note: Truth — Sudo)
Rob: "Dutch apple! All the way! Lightly heated with a cup of coffee on the side."
Lindsey Miller: "Peanut butter pie. Or boysenberry with crumb topping."
Karl: "I'll go savory and vote for 'shepherd's.'"
Chuck: "mado's kidney pie from their recent beef dinner was all that and the proverbial bag of chips. Teeming with hearty chunks of kidney meat, carrots and thick beef gravy, it shaved a year off the life expectancies of all who ate it."
Marcus: "Pecan."
