Your "Feel Good Moment" Of the Day: Royko vs. Sinatra on Antiques Roadshow

By Karl Klockars in Arts & Entertainment on Feb 24, 2010 6:40PM

2010_02_24viecarlsonmadison.jpg We'll admit it - we watch Antiques Roadshow. (You may recall we've discussed a predilection for so-called "senior" television when we talked about loving CBS Sunday Morning.) We're suckers for the moment of the "reveal" when everyone finds out how much the heirloom or garage sale purchase is worth - or isn't.

That reveal was all the more magical when Vie Carlson (who, by the by, is Bun E. Carlos' mom) stopped by the Roadshow to find out exactly how much her original letter from a very angry Frank Sinatra to columnist Mike Royko might have appreciated since her original $400 purchase price.

The actual appraisal took place last July and Carlson is planning on putting the letter up for auction sometime in the near future. We'll let appraiser Simeon Lipman explain exactly how much the letter might go for, but this clip is worth watching just for the warm fuzzy feeling we got in what passes for our hearts when Vie discovers what has happened with her investment through the years. Check it out:
