Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival Announces Headliners

Festival season is starting to flesh out pretty nicely with announcements of events like Green Fest, Taste of Chicago, North Coast, and the much-hyped Pitchfork. Here’s another: The Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival will take place the last weekend of July in Logan Square, spanning Milwaukee Ave between Kimball and California. Now in its third year, the MAAF will feature a slew of artists, two stages of music, and a trolly to cart your lazy ass around. While the fest is still in the development process, the musical lineup is steadily unfolding.

Headlining will be local favorites JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound (Friday), White Mystery (Saturday), and The Hood Internet (Sunday). Other notables include The Hollows, Papo Santiago & Orchestra Infraverde, The Arrivals, Sidewalk Chalk, Beaba Do Samba, Black Bear Combo, and This is Cinema.

Along with musical entertainment, the fest will feature, of course, art. There will be a variety of exhibitions and pop-up galleries, performance art shows, interactive art activities, and an indoor art market. As for food and drink, there will be food trucks by local gourmet establishments, such as Gaztro-Wagon, and craft beers by Revolution Brewery. The MAAF is still looking for artists who want to show their work or anyone who wants to contribute. Applications and more fest details can be found on the fest’s official site.

Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival is Friday-Sunday, July 29-July 31, Milwaukee Ave between Kimball and California, $5 Suggested Donation
