We were already stoked here in the Chicagoist offices with the news the Hideout Block Party was returning after a three-year hiatus. Today we got a look at the "Holy Shit!" lineup. The line for tickets, which go on sale Friday, starts here.

This is a lineup that Hideout regulars, Bloodshot worshippers, people who hang on every word written at Pitchfork, DeRogatis and Kot can agree is one of the strongest in the Block Party's history. If the lineup had any combination of Andrew Bird, Mavis Staples, Big Freedia, Jon Langford's Burlington Welsh Choir, Booker T. Jones, The Eternals, White Mystery, Opera- Matic and Kids These Days, it would already be a killer bill. That they're all on the same bill ups the ante significantly. Bird, Staples, White Mystery and Jones have all released amazing records. In the case of legends, Staples and Jones, their latest long-players stack up against anything in their oeuvre.

Tickets for the Hideout Block Party go on sale 10 a.m. Friday.
