Loren-Maltese Cicero Home Goes to Auction

By Chuck Sudo in News on Jul 25, 2011 1:56PM

Looking for a home in Cicero? There's a modest three-bedroom, 1.5 bath home at 3818 S. Austin that can be yours at auction this week. The home of former Town President Betty Loren-Maltese heads to the auction block this week.

The house is one of four properties seized by government authorities. Proceeds from the auction will go toward the $8.3 million Loren-Maltese still owes Cicero. Loren-Maltese was convicted of defrauding the burb of $12 million in a racketeering scheme and served six years in prison.

Meanwhile we'd like to remind you that 20 percent of every paycheck Loren-Maltese earns goes to pay off that debt, so it's in ours (and her) best-interests to keep her gainfully employed. Then the town can spend it on tchotchkes and hiring relatives.
