Timothy Jones was ordered held without bond for the murder of pregnant teen Charinez Jefferson yesterday. Jones is alleged to have run up to Jefferson, who was hanging with friends after making a run to a corner store, and shot her three times in the heart and once each in the foot and back of her head.

Prosecutors said yesterday Jefferson begged for her life, but Jones kept firing while calling her a "bitch."

As with many of these cases, some of Jones's relatives have come forward to contend police have the wrong suspect. Jones's cousin Stanley Jones said Timothy Jones was recovering from a recent gunshot wound to the leg and denied he was in a gang. Timothy Jones has an extensive record of juvenile offenses and was on probation for a 2010 burglary conviction.

As for Jefferson's child, the newly named Kahmani remains in critical condition with no brain activity, although he has gained weight since his birth.
