Corgan Makes Headlines Again, Not About Music Again

corgan facebook.jpg Oh, Billy. He always seems to make the news these days for everything but music. Yes, the Smashing Pumpkins are slated to play the Riviera this fall in support of a new album, but the thing everyone is talking about right now is his online feud with a guitar pedal engineer who also happens to be a transgender activist. Even if either side was justified in responding to defend themselves, the slinging and name calling that ensued went way too far.

It all started when the Smashing Pumpkins frontman allegedly requested for Devi Ever to make a custom guitar pedal for him, without ever following up with her. When Ever took to Netphoria to openly complain about Corgan and his actions (or lack thereof), he went on a Twitter tirade referring to Ever as “he/she” and calling her an “ugly pig.” The Tweets have since been deleted, but the damage was done. Things just got uglier from there. The AV Club has a couple of Facebook messages that Corgan apparently sent to Ever that are filled with degrading profanity and are downright threatening. These two clearly have a personal vendetta against each other, but stooping to derogatory slurs certainly isn’t going to make anybody friends.

Ever had posted a nearly 20 minute video in public response focusing on transgender activism, but it has also since been removed.
