- Seattlest was made to relax by the knowledge that lawyers for a group of Alaskan Militiamen felt that the 2,000 miles separating our city from their state was too close for comfort. The negative spotlight once again focused on the Seattle Police Department as the local ABC affiliate sued them for violations of the Public Records Act. Lastly, we mourned the loss of Erik “Electron Boy" Martin, a 14-year old boy who had lived with cancer all of his life, and whose Make A Wish Foundation video touched the hearts of many.
- DCist attempted to decipher a $20 million lawsuit filed by James Patock -- a man who was arrested last November after the Park Police found guns inside his camper that was parked on the National Mall. What we learned: Patock really, really doesn’t care for the media, nor was he too fond of having excrement thrown on him while he was in holding.
- Gothamist watched as protesters began to occupy Wall Street to protest corporate hegemony. The NYPD used an anti-mask law from 1845 to arrest protesters early on and the arrest total hit the triple digits yesterday as police pepper-sprayed already-penned in protesters.
- Chicagoist was surprised to find the Hipstamatic camera app had a lens and film package named after the Wicker Park neighborhood.
- Shanghaiist cheered when animal activists successfully shut down a dog meat festival in eastern China.
- Bostonist is running out of ways to describe how bad the Red Sox are right now. How desperate is the situation? We might enter the "Day on the Road with Mitt" contest to avoid the Sox for a day.
- LAist watched as the Burbank City Council claimed they had no power to stop Wal-Mart from coming.
- SFist braced itself for the SF Police Department's crackdown on red light-ignoring bicyclists.
