Ditka, Colonel Tribune Make "Mustache of the Year" Finalists

2011_30_ditka.jpg The American Mustache Institute, which just a couple of weeks back named Chicago "America's most mustache-friendly city," named its finalists for the 2011 Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year today.

Of course Mike Ditka makes the lists of finalists. We would have demanded a recount if he hadn't. Any chance to run the photo of "Da Coach" that's become a Chicagoist tradition.

Also making the cut of finalists: Colonel Tribune, the nattily attired, paper tri-corner, hat wearing cartoon online ambassador for the Tribune.

The winner will be announced at the AMI's "Stache Bash" at Joe's on Weed Street Oct. 28. We'd love to see the Colonel win this and see who shows up to receive the award.
