More sad news from southern Indiana, where Angel Babcock, who was found alive in a cornfield after Friday's severe tornadoes, was taken off life support yesterday.

Kathy Babcock, Angel's grandmother, made the decision with family members to take her off life support yesterday afternoon. Angel was found in a field 10 miles away from her home surrounded by the dead bodies of her father Joseph, mother Moriah, and siblings Jayden and Kendall. Angel suffered severe head trauma from the storm and was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky., and placed in critical condition.

With Angel's passing, the death toll from Friday's tornadoes climbed to 39. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and Ohio Gov. John Kasich have declared states of emergency, while President Obama has promised federal assistance. Southern Indiana and Ohio have suffered the worst damage from the storms.
