It’s almost too much to take, meeting Madonna in person—like looking directly into the sun, especially if you’re superfan Shaun Sperling, whose footage of his 13-year-old-self dancing to Vogue during his bar mitzvah in a Chicago suburb in 1992 went viral earlier this year.

As first reported yesterday afternoon by influential pop culture blogger Matthew Rettenmund (a former Chicagoan), both Madonna and Sperling reportedly taped an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Oct. 8.

Per Rettenmund:

“Shaun Sperling, he of the "Vogue" bar mitzvah, is taping with Ellen DeGeneres today which I found beyond coincidental considering the fact that Madonna is in town...and I was right to be suspicious,” noted Rettenmund in his post. “A friend in the audience has sent me proof that Madonna is being interviewed by Ellen right now...and she is wearing her MDNA Tour "Vogue" outfit.”

Sperling, 33, an attorney, has been discreet about the specifics of the Ellen taping, stating on his Facebook page, “It was an amazing experience - unforgettable. I'll share more details when I can, but for now I can tell you that the show now airs on 10/29. Xoxoxo.”

Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, confirmed her Ellen taping yesterday via Twitter, stating, “Today #Madonna taped a full episode of @TheEllenShow... It will air on October 29th.”

This isn’t the first time Madonna and Sperling have “met.” During her concert at the United Center last month, Madonna put the microphone in front of a few fans during “Like a Prayer”—including Sperling—giving them the opportunity to sing a few words. Liz Rosenberg, Madonna’s publicist, pooh-poohed the incident, telling HuffPost Gay Voices, "Madonna never goes to that area of the stage to get people to sing along with her, but clearly she was being spiritually guided to the one person out of 20,000 who deserved to sing along."

Just like a prayer, she’ll take you there—and us, we’re betting, when M and her superfan finally strike a pose—together.
