Chipotle To Serve 5 Rabbit Beer

2012_8_15_5Rabbit.png Chipotle is always promoting its commitment to local farms and sustainable sourcing, but this is the first time that has extended to beer. The Tribune reported yesterday that a group of Chipotle outlets in Chicago would start serving beer from 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, Chicago's own Latin-themed craft brewery. This comes on the heels of their hiring of former Goose Islander John Hall as head brewmaster. Looks like 5 Rabbit is on the way up!

Chipotle has served beer and wine before, but it's always been the more standard Mexican beers - Corona, Pacifico and the like. Frankly, we've never ordered any, preferring more pedestrian beverages to go with our food. Watch out, office - we'll be drinking at lunchtime now!

The 15 Chipotle stores that will stock the brews will serve two 5 Rabbit beers: The eponymous 5 Rabbit, a golden ale, and 5 Vulture, a darker ale brewed with chile and spices that has become one of our favorites. Now if only Chipotle would release a Willy Nelson song and a cute animated short featuring craft beer, we'd be their loyal customers for life.

No word on price yet. For a full list of participating Chipotle locations, check out the Trib.
