Dia De Los Tamales Soft Opening This Weekend

2013_1_30_diadelostamales.jpg Back in January we told you about Dia de Los Tamales' Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the necessary equipment for a kitchen space in Pilsen. The team of Jeni Wahl, Sam Wahl and Keith Carlson, who also plan to run Get Off the Couch Catering in the same space, raised more than their $30,000 goal. (One lucky backer even shelled out the $1,500 for a catered trip to Ravinia.)

Jeni Wahl sent Chicagoist an email to let us know Dia de Los Tamales will do a soft opening this weekend, April 19 to 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in advance of their grand opening April 23. We followed up with a phone call to get their regular business hours in the future: From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, closed Mondays.

If you're unfamiliar with Dia de Los Tamales, this weekend would be an ideal opportunity to rectify that situation. Their tamales are some of the best in the city and their storefront will be a welcome addition to Pilsen's 18th street dining scene.
