Congratulations to Sarah Jordan, pastry chef at Boka and GT Fish & Oyster, who just got named one of Food and Wine Magazine's Best New Pastry Chefs. We reported on her nomination for "people"s best new pastry chef" (which is decided by voting) in April, but this is the real deal.

Unfortunately, none of the many Chicago chefs nominated won People's Best - the winner was Jodie Elliot from Austin, Texas. But Sarah Jordan came back to win the official award. She is now one of the few, the proud, the Best New Pastry Chefs for 2013. She's the only Midwesterner to get the nod.

Her featured dessert, a Chocolate Crémeux with Candied Pretzels, Potato Chips & Beer Caramel, is almost enough to put us into an afternoon sugar coma right now. There's a picture here; we can't wait to try it.
