Last Minute Plans: Get BLU With Bailiff & Others At The Shedd

BLU at the Shedd Aquarium is a combination of fundraiser and a celebration, and the Wild Reef's 10th anniversary is something we can get into.

While many of these events tend to be stuffy—and, eventually, they just herd everyone in a single room to guilt them out of as much money as they can—BLU is aiming toward the younger crowd. The event is set up for wandering—so if you go take advantage of having portions of the aquarium all to yourself—and, yes, there are the prerequisite open bars, gourmet tasters and desserts to sample.

For us, one of the main draws is an early evening set by Chicago's Bailiff, a band whose sophomore album we've been very much looking forward to. We hope to get a sample of what to expect from them tonight.

Rounding out the bill for the more mainstream crowd will be live music from The Salt And The Sea and the long-running The Samples. Tickets range from $175-$250 and a limited quantity will be available at the doors when they open at 7 p.m. tonight.
