Music

We previewed singer-violinist Amanda Shires last month as a "Music Video of the Day" selection. Shires' new album, Down Fell the Doves, is an amazing amalgam of folk, indie rock and alt-country that is equal parts urgent and laconic, but never boring. Shires headlines a bill at Schubas 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 with Kevin Andrew Prchal opening. Tickets are $10 and available here.

Who does Tributosaurus morph into this month? That's who! The Who! The popular local cover band pays their rock 'n roll tithes to Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and company 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at Martyrs'. Tickets are $20 and available online here.
