Former TimeOut Chicago editor David Tamarkin, writing for Bon Appétit, crowns Logan Square Chicago’s new hot restaurant neighborhood and it’s hard to argue with the list he compiled for his article.

It’s been a long time coming since Jason Hammel and Amalea Tshilds opened Lula Café in 1999. “The Square,” Tamarkin writes, “has become home to many of the most exciting openings of the past year, seducing diners away from downtown and onto its historic, greystone-lined streets.” Lula newer restaurants like Yusho and Masa Azul make the list, as do newer hip spots like Parson’s Chicken and Fish, Scofflaw and Bang Bang Pie Shop. One notable omission: Fat Rice, which Bon Appétit named the fourth-best new restaurant in America last month.
