Thrillist is on a roll lately. A couple weeks back they ran an article listing the downside of living in trendy Chicago neighborhoods. Today Thrillist lists 13 bars where the dignity of patrons goes down the drain in tandem with sobriety.

The list features some usual suspects like Butch McGuire’s, Tai’s Til 4, Beaumont and Murphy’s Bleachers along a perplexing selection with Carol’s. Thrillist editor Sean Cooley cited “the siren song of cheap alcohol and country music in the wee hours” which I would think are reasons to visit the Uptown dive—I love Carol’s.

Cooley’s list is heavy on Lakeview, Lincoln Park and Near North Side watering holes that anyone above the age of 28 should know better to frequent. Cooley could have dragged this out with lists solely comprising of Division Street bars, clubs around Wrigleyville and Lakeview and the Lincoln Avenue Strip from Armitage to Diversey; couple this list with Complex magazine’s “25 douchiest bars in Chicago” and you have a road map of places to not visit.
