It's Been An Early Start To Dibs Season

As I mentioned in this morning's weather post the Dibs Threat Level is green and will hopefully stay there until the foreseeable future. The photo above is only one example of what my neighbors have been using to save their parking spaces. I've also spied the top of a litter box, a new grill purchased from Family Dollar, broken lawn furniture (as per Aaron's tips for "proper" dibs protocol) and too much waterlogged cardboard to mention.
The Chicago Dibs Tumblr site has been busy this month with 10 submissions of what drivers across Chicago are using to holding their parking spaces while they're away. Religious iconography is proving to be very popular although we believe Jesus probably wouldn't claim dibs and would enlist his disciples in shoveling out a whole block of curbside parking, unlike you lazy slugs who didn't even bother to break a sweat and simply dropped IKEA furniture and a baby car seat in the snow.
Dibs is over folks. There's even a song to remind you.
