Police have released a sketch of the poor toddler who was dismembered and dumped in the Garfield Park lagoon.

Parts of the toddler's body were discovered in the lagoon over Labor Day weekend, and investigators believe that the child had been there for over a week since it was already decomposing. Police know little about the toddler found. None were reported missing in the area.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says it appears that the child is an African-American boy and between two and three years old, according to the Chicago Tribune. However, the torso of the body still has not been found—only the head, hands and feet—so they are not certain of the child's gender. It's also possible that the child was as young as eight months old and as old as four years old. The child could also be mixed race.

"All the body parts appear to be from a child of approximately the same age," according to a statement from police and the medical examiner's office. "The hair was short, curly and black in color; the eyes were brown; and the earlobes were not pierced, suggesting the child may be male (but female gender cannot be ruled out at present)."

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy vowed this morning in a press conference to do whatever it takes to find out who the child is and what happened.
