Intelligentsia Coffee, the Chicago-based roaster with shops in California and New York that has been called the coffee industry's top power player, is looking for a buyer.

The celebrated company has been estimated to sell for at least $100 million in private equity, and reports say they're likely to auction off the company to get a high price. Though the chain only has about 10 outlets, the WSJ reports that it's been gathering investor attention for a while now thanks to its high-profile as a gourmet coffee brewer.

Intelligentsia Coffee has been a staple of Chicago's booming coffee scene since the '90s, and it's been credited with introducing craft coffee to Los Angeles in 2007.
