On Sunday morning, the Chicago Police Department's Marine Unit recovered a "badly decomposed" body at Promontory Point, authorities said.

Police pulled the body of an adult man from the water in the 5400 block of South South Shore Drive at 10 a.m., a police spokesperson said. The man's age and race are currently unknown, and Area Central Detectives are currently investigating the case.

This is one of at least three dead bodies the CPD's Marine Unit has pulled from local waters in the past month. Last week, they recovered a dead body from the Chicago River near Columbus Drive, and in late April, they recovered a dead body in Lake Michigan, near Buckingham Fountain. The latter was the body of 21-year-old Jessica Suarez, a woman who had been missing since February.
