Cubs Pitcher Jake Arrieta's Halloween Costume Is Brilliantly Wacky

Now for another edition of Today In Cubs Sartorial Wackiness. One of the Cubs’ intimidatingly numerous aces, starting pitcher Jake Arrieta unveiled his plan for this year’s Halloween costume. No, it’s not Donald Trump or Suicide Squad Joker or something else uninspired and topical. Jake’s too good for that. Behold: Jake Arrieta as Jake from State Farm. He revealed the hilariously anti-elaborate concept after some fun build-up Twitter chats with the @JakeStateFarm account.

Of course, this is not the first time the Cubs have gotten creative with their threads. Just this Saturday, Cubs infield wizard Ben Zobrist rode to Wrigley Field on his bike in full uniform.

And who could forget this past June, when the team rocked all manner of hot pink and flamboyant beach wear on their way to Miami.

Even with so much playoff pressure looming, never let it be said that manager Joe Maddon doesn’t keep his players loose.
