Chance the Rapper is offering some much-needed Inauguration Day counter-programming by performing at a January NAACP event called "The People's Inauguration" at Howard University in D.C.

Chance, who was recently nominated by the NAACP for several awards, will perform at the rally as part of a movement called "#StayWokeAndFight" which will plan protests and activism in response to Donald Trump's presidential election and the utter trash fire that has embodied his first 30-plus days as President-elect. The event will take place Jan. 21, the day after Trump's very real upcoming inauguration.

The rally "will re-unite allies and partners who helped register thousands of new and young voters during the 2016 election with the goal to launch a new era of activism and protest against potential threats from the presidency of Donald J. Trump," the NAACP said in a release. "During the meeting, attendees will begin collaborating to unite together and stand for a progressive policy agenda in the coming months and years."

Chance hosted a free get-out-the-vote concert in Chicago last month to raise awareness about the importance of voting and to get people out to the polls.

So far we've heard of no plans to make Chicago's younger favorite son an "ambassador of sorts" in Trump's administration, and for that we're relieved. Chance's star has risen in many other ways this year however. And in the latest, you watch him promote his upcoming Saturday Night Live appearance and decorate New York City's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, below:
