Taking a brilliant move from the Taraji P. Henson playbook, Chicago hip-hop favorite and certifiable Good Dude Chance the Rapper on Sunday did his fans a solid by purchasing all the tickets for Get Out so that moviegoers could catch the brilliant, Jordan Peele-directed race-relations horror satire for free.

Even better was the fact that the Chatham native made the ticket gift available to those from his own backyard, buying tickets from the Chatham 14 Theaters (210 W. 87th St). (None of that Kanye-style suburbinization from Chance, thank you.) All of the theater's three evening screenings—5:30 p.m., 8 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.—were covered, so the theater ended up adding another showing, at 11:15 p.m.

Nearly as wonderful as the gesture itself were the fan reactions, which included—no kidding—actual dancing in the streets.

After Henson and now Chance, the buy-all-the-tix-and-give-'em-away move is turning into something of a tradition now. Apparently, Twista is on board—on Sunday he vowed to grab next.
