Wayne's World—still arguably the very best film adaptation in Saturday Night Live history—turns 25 this year, and Illinois has not disappointed in terms of properly feting the modern classic. First, Aurora threw a monumental Wayne-and-Garth blowout (replete with a record-breaking collective headbang). Now comes the most excellent news that none other than Alice Cooper himself will introduce the film when it screens next week at Millennium Park.
Cooper will "provide introductory remarks about the film and the cameo performance that cemented his 'we’re not worthy; status among a generation of music fans," the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
Wayne's World (1992) screens Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and Great Lawn in Millennium Park. Although with this latest development, you might want to show up a bit early if possible. The Mike Myers-Dana Carvey hesher favorite remains a great watch—no matter who channels its iconic gags.
