A woman was shot at during a robbery that happened on the Near West Side today.
Police responded to a shots fired called at 12:27 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Adams today, according to a police report. A woman said she was robbed at gunpoint by two men, one wearing a surgical mask, another wearing a skeleton face mask. The men fired shots at her but missed before fleeing westbound on Adams in a beige car.
This report matches a pattern of robberies that police warned about yesterday. On Sunday and Monday, there were four other robberies on the Near West Side in which the suspects match that description. In some instances, the robbers were wearing surgical masks and even surgical gloves as well.
The two men suspected in those robberies were described as being 18 to 29 years old, standing between 5'7" and 6'3" and are 140 to 210 pounds. They were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and occasionally the aforementioned surgical gear.
