Robbery/Hostage Situation in Rogers Park Ends, Robber Still Sought

Around 9:42 this morning, an armed robber, believed to be male, attempted to rob a First Commercial Bank branch at 6945 N. Clark St. According to the Tribune, something went wrong and the robbery escalated to a hostage situation. The hostages were freed around 1:30 p.m.; none of them were harmed. No one is saying whether the gunman is still in the bank, or has been arrested.

UPDATE 3:30: CBS 2 reports that 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore said that police believe the gunman also escaped.

only in chicago is it this easy to rob a bank and get away with it. Seriously, its easier to rob a bank here than in the old west!

Joe Moore claimed there weren't any hostages taken. The Morse Hellhole covered it all day too.
