Food Pr0n: moto, Take #1

We recently spent a Saturday afternoon in the kitchen at moto. Chef Homaro Cantu set things on fire for us (video this afternoon!) while Chef Ben Roche created and destroyed a dessert for our benefit (pictures of that this week). We also captured images of a new bagel and lox menu item and how the salmon gets smoked right at your table (keep watching for those, too). For now, enjoy some images of moto's cuisine and be sure to return for behind the scene pictures.

No doubt, moto is really super fun and it's delicious but when you have the fun and deliciousness and the tab is $350 for two people and on the way home you feel like stopping for a burger because you're still hungry....it makes you think that maybe they should
start putting a bread basket with copious amounts of butter on the table.
Or something.

Nice photos, L.!!!!

Thank you, Ingrid. That means a lot to me. :)

L - nicely, nicely done. I especially love the captions; excellent descriptions, and easy to "digest" (oh, am I punny).

Great work.

frp - thenkew. When are you taking me? ;)

That S'Mores bomb has got to be the best!!

Ben Roche is one of my favorite pastry chefs in the city.

My husband has been dying to try moto, but he's a vegetarian (well, he'll eat fish like twice a year, but he's definitely not vegan). Do you think moto's menu would work for him?

Hi, Bekki,

Hmmm, they were extremely accommodating when it came to guests (I was there during their meeting to discuss dining dietary restrictions). I saw them re-make dishes just for people who had low sodium diets or were sensitive to specific spices.

I would imagine this is a request they see relatively often and one for which they have a good response (hopefully in the form of an acceptable menu for vegetarians). I'd give them a call and ask them and, if you make reservations, let them know when you make the reservations. They certainly seemed very, very accommodating.

Thank you so much for the help and being so speedy!

I have a friend who last year had a vegetarian tasting at Moto.

How did I miss this post from the lovely and talented epicurian ms. stolpman?

I honestly thought that was egg and sausage - even close up - until I read the caption.

I amazingly have a little pocket money now. Now I just have to find someone to date that is worth going to moto with!

Matty, you bee charmer, you. ;) She'll be a lucky girl!
