Public Enemies To Get Chicago Premiere

2009_6_9publicenemies.jpg Just yesterday we were lamenting the fact that Chicago was left off a list of places receiving an advance screening of the new Johnny Depp-starring John Dillinger movie Public Enemies, which was largely shot here last year. What we are getting is the movie's big premiere which will include appearances from the movie's big stars, including Depp and Christian Bale. The bad news? Only a select few can go. It's an invitation-only event happening next Thursday at the AMC River East theater. According to Crain's Shia Kapos, it's one of the few films to get a premiere here in Chicago before it even premieres in L.A. a few days later; the film opens nationwide on Wednesday July 1.

Saw the preview for this during the finals last night. Looks like it should be pretty good. Bruno, too.

Uninteresting story: Johnny Depp was born in my hometown. Despite the fact that he only lived there a year or two, almost everybody I met claimed to have known him in high school.

You're from Owensboro?

I lived in Henderson for two years. :)

I am, in fact, from Owensboro, and I still have family there. I used to run to Henderson from time to time, though mostly I only passed through on my way to Evansville. Henderson had an awesome weekend blues festival, though.

And there, we have the only mentions of any of these three towns on a big city -ist site. :-)

Never again. :)

I don't particularly miss Kentucky, but I do miss the Handy Fest (the aforementioned blues fest) and all of the great barbecue that went with it...

He probably hung out with them when he was a hip undercover policeman.

Big John and I are good friends.. He flies a bunch of us down to his vacation home in Bora Bora every year for a awesome party. Very cool and down to earth guy.

hmm...you know johnny depp?

oh that comment was meant for danoct...lol.
