Much speculation has been made about Homaro Cantu's Disruptive Food countdown and the big reveal he's supposed to announce on November 13. Privately we've been asking ourselves and others, "Wouldn't it be a big letdown if it just turned out to be another Food Network show?" Our suspicions were further piqued by the Chicago Bites team of Tammy Green and Bridget Houlihan. They had dinner over the weekend with Ted Allen in moto's private downstairs dining room and said the room will "apparently will soon be transformed into to a TV studio for a new cooking show."

Just yesterday we were lamenting the fact that Chicago was left off a list of places receiving an advance screening of the new Johnny Depp-starring John Dillinger movie Public Enemies, which was largely shot here last year. What we are getting is the movie's big premiere which will include appearances from the movie's big stars, including Depp and Christian Bale. The bad news? Only a select few can go. It's an invitation-only event happening next Thursday at the AMC River East theater. According to Crain's Shia Kapos, it's one of the few films to get a premiere here in Chicago before it even premieres in L.A. a few days later; the film opens nationwide on Wednesday July 1.

Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza is opening at the United Center tomorrow night, and if you happen to be downtown tomorrow you may glimpse the groups of street dancers, musicians, and performing artists – dressed in white – that will be moving throughout the Loop to promote the show.

The red carpet is being rolled out tonight at the Loews on Michigan for the Chicago premiere of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, the first film based on an American Girl doll to be released in theaters. Cutie-pie Abigail Breslin stars as Kit, an American Girl living in 1934 during the Great Depression. Chicago natives Chris O’Donnell and Joan Cusak are also expected to be at the premiere of the film, in which O’Donnell plays Kit’s father and Cusak plays a boarder named Miss Bond.
