Today's Weather: Sweltering

By Marcus Gilmer in Miscellaneous on Aug 9, 2009 2:30PM

Yesterday wasn't that hot. At least, it seemed no hotter than the usual Lollapalooza weather to us. But today? Today will be hot. Today will be the day you definitely need to apply sunscreen liberally and if you're going to Lollapalooza, for God's sake skip the beer line and go straight for the water. Highs will reach the mid-to-upper 90s and heat index values could reach around 105. Seriously. It's 9 a.m. when I'm typing this and according to the N.W.S., the heat index is already 87. Muggy conditions continue overnight with lows in the upper 70s. Not only that, but there's a chance of sever storms according to the NWS. Nice. And as for the rest of the week? Well, it took until the second week of August, but summer has finally arrived.

UPDATE: Well, this is nice. Seems we're under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 6 p.m.
