Father of Mya Lyons Arrested

2010_07_14_mya.jpg The 2008 murder of 9-year-old Mya Lyons took another twist yesterday when her father, Richard Lyons, was arrested on a "no-bond warrant" as a suspect in connection with his daughter's murder.

Mya Lyons was found stabbed in an Auburn-Gresham alley in July 2008. Richard Lyons was quickly identified by police as a person of interest in the murder. He submitted to lie detector tests and had the van in which he drove his daughter's body to the hospital confiscated and searched. Richard Lyons later filed suit against Metra for not keeping the area where her body was found properly maintained.

Richard Lyons also retained counsel shortly after his daughter's killing for what he described as "accusatory and threatening" comments made to him by detectives.
