A man was stabbed on the Washington Street Bridge during a robbery attempt on Sunday night. However, in spite of two fresh stab wounds, he managed to hold his assailant until police arrived to arrest the man, police said.
The victim, a 49-year-old man, was on the bridge at about 11:30 p.m. when another man approached him on foot and announced a robbery, according to police. The assailant then allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach area with a knife.
The victim ultimately took control of the situation, though, and "subdued" his attacker, police said. Charges against the alleged attacker are pending. The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
