The man told police that he was a "knife salesman," selling knives out of his suitcase, and the stabbing was accidental, Kubiak said. Fire Media Affairs Dir. Larry Langford said that although the man lost a lot of blood, his injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Two incidents in the last 24 hours have underscored the recent crisis of violence involving Chicago Public School students. Last night, a boy who - until just recently - had attended Sullivan High School - was shot in Rogers Park last night in what appears to be a gang-related incident. At last report, the student, who was shot multiple times, was in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital. This comes on the heels of CBS 2's report on Monday that 508 Chicago Public School students had been shot in the last 16 months - a number that has grown to 510 including last night's shooting. In addition to the shooting, a student was stabbed at DuSable High this morning. Police hadn't said whether the incident happened on school grounds but confirmed the assailant was in custody and the weapon used had been recovered. The student was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in serious-to-critical condition.

A man was seriously wounded after being stabbed multiple times on-board a CTA Red Line train this afternoon as it traveled north from the Roosevelt stop. A DePaul student sitting nearby, Jamie Huberty, witnessed the attack.

Now, the details of exactly what the hell happened are coming to light and it scares us even more than before.

The four women and the victim...were playing cards and drinking in the apartment of one of the women in the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue at about 2 a.m. Sunday, said Cook County Assistant State's Atty. LuAnn Snow during a bond hearing.

  • A Cicero woman was found stabbed to death in her apartment and authorities are searching for her husband, who may have also abducted the couple's baby daughter, as a "person of interest" in the crime. Yesenia Villalba-Honorato, 21, was found stabbed in her apartment in the 5500 block of West 18th Street Wednesday evening and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8 p.m. It's unclear how long ago the crime may have taken place. Neighbors entered the home after not having seen Yesenia for several days and found her in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds. Police are searching for her husband, Mario Puente, 29, who was reportedly seen in the Denver area on Tuesday. Police believe Puente has their daughter, 11-month-old Leslie Puente, with him and an Amber Alert may be issued at some point today; as of this morning, one had not been issued. According to Cicero police, Puente (pictured right) is listed as a 5-foot-9 to 6-foot, 185-pound Hispanic man. He may be traveling in a grey or green 1999 Ford Explorer with Illinois plates X143269 or X143266. [Trib, S-T]
