Video: 71-Year-Old Man Shot And Robbed While Watering Front Lawn

Video from a neighbor’s surveillance camera shows an elderly man being shot and robbed as he watered his front lawn in Marquette Park on Tuesday.

The 71-year-old man was in front of his home in the 7100 block of South California Avenue at about 12:10 p.m. when two men passed by on bikes, according to Chicago police. In the video, one of the men is seen heading back to the victim. He drops his bike then goes after the man. According to police, he was demanding the victim’s wallet. After a struggle, he appears to shoot the victim and go through his pockets. The victim then gets to his feet and is able to stagger to his neighbor’s porch and use a mobile phone.

He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in fair condition. Police did not have anyone is custody as of Thursday morning.
