Finally, A Timelapse Video Of Chicago That Goes Beyond The Lakefront

It was just yesterday that we relayed news that nearly half of Illinois residents want to flee the state, according to an SIU-C study. But the Chicago-based among that figure may be forced to reconsider after five-and-half-minutes with the clip above—an absolutely stunning timelapse-video love letter to the city of Chicago.

The video was put together by photographer/filmmaker Josh Beavers between July 2014 and January of this year, according to the YouTube description. And while the clip certainly has its share of usual Loop suspects, 1) they’re so lovingly shot, you’re happy to see them anew, and 2) Beavers ventures further out to illustrate what locals already know so well: Chicago’s neighborhoods are often as postcard-ready and picturesque as downtown.

It's one of the best of its kind we've seen in some time, right up there with local photographer Chris Biela's Urbanique video, which if you have seen yet, should be next in your queue.
