Those Nutty Riverwalk Domes At City Winery Are Coming Back This Fall

In its relatively short lifespan, the Chicago Riverwalk has already played host to such assorted novelties as a floating museum and a pyrotechnic waterfall. But nothing grabbed our eye quite like those nutty dome hangouts that City Winery debuted back in the spring. In a bit of reverse hibernation, they were stashed away for the warm summer months. But now that autumn has arrived, Chicago's favorite oddball, climate-proof personal drinking hideaways will be making their return.

City Winery announced today that its Riverwalk location is now taking reservations for the fall slot, from Sept. 18 until Nov. 27. Reservations for a dome cost $25 per person and are non-refundable. There's also a $60 food and drink minimum. Four domes, which seat two to eight, are bookable now.; and two domes that seat between a dozen and 15 (!) are available Oct. 2.

Like any good gimmick—especially one that affords maximum comfort while you pile away the food and slosh wine along the city's latest crown-jewel attraction—this one has proven to be in high demand. So if a night of quasi-sci-fi dining digs sounds appealing, go ahead and place your dibs now.
