Bruce Springsteen confirmed today he'll be playing Wrigley Field in September, months after rumors of such a gig first surfaced.

Tickets for the Sept. 7 concert go on sale 10 a.m. April 21 via tickets.com or by calling 1-800-843-2827, will cost between $45-$103, with a limit of four tickets per person.

The Springsteen concert is the latest major shed show to come to the Friendly Confines this summer. Roger Waters is bringing his tour of The Wall to Wrigley June 8. Country star Brad Paisley and a caravan of acts including Miranda Lambert, Chris Young, Jerrod Niemann, and The Band Perry roll into Wrigley the following night. There were rumors Phish would play Wrigley Field July 4 and 5, but their summer tour itinerary has them playing upstate New York July 4 and 6.

Given the team's 2-5 start and the fact the Cubs are one of the teams in violation of Major League Baseball's debt service rules, more non-baseball events like concerts are a way for the baseball team to use Wrigley Field to generate revenue when the product on the field isn't enough. As more than one person has commented, the concerts may be the most exciting thing happening at Wrigley this season.

Springsteen is currently touring behind his new album Wrecking Ball and has a retooled backing band that includes a five-piece horn section to replace saxophonist/running mate Clarence Clemons, who passed away last June. He also added several backing singers and a percussionist to the remaining E Street band.
